Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province Meets with Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam

On the morning of September 11th, at the Office of the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Duong Ngoc Long, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyen Province met with Ms. Meirav Elion Shahar, Israeli Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Viet Nam. Joining the meeting was the leaders of the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Planning and Investment, and Agriculture and Rural Development.

Introduced to the overview of the province’s socio-economic development, potentialities and strengths, Ms. Ambassador thanked the provincial leaders for their friendly and warm reception. She said it was the first time she had visited and worked in Thai Nguyen. Before meeting with the provincial leaders, she had visited and worked with a number of universities in the province, of which she had spent the longest time working with the University of Agriculture and Forestry of Thai Nguyen. This university has been in effective training cooperation with Israel for many years. During the past academic year, the University sent over 140 students to Israel for study.

Ms. Meirav Elion Shahar also added that the relations and bilateral cooperation in various fields between Viet Nam and Israel are developing more and more durably. This year also marks the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During this working visit, she desired to explore Thai Nguyen’s potentialities, exchange information and come to an agreement and cooperation with the province in agricultural development, which mainly focuses on training agricultural and forestal workers in applying advanced technology in Thai Nguyen, Viet Nam and Israel.

Mr. Chairman thanked Ms. Ambassador for her promising training cooperation intentions. He also wished that the relations and cooperation between the Israeli Embassy in Viet Nam and Thai Nguyen Province would develop more and more strongly. From the Ambassador’s goodwill, it’s believed that Israel will create more cooperation, investment programs in Thai Nguyen in the future, not only in agriculture but in many other areas as well.
