Provincial Leaders received Manchester City Delegation

On 11 March, a delegation coming from Manchester City, U.K, leaded by Mr. Peter Thompson, International commercial consultant came to visit and work with our province. Receiving and working with the Delegation were Mr Pham Xuan Duong, Central Party Commissioner, Leader of the Provincial Congress Delegation; Duong Ngoc Long, Deputy Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee.

At the working session, Mr. Peter Thompson showed his pleasure when they were received and worked with the provincial leaders. The work purpose of the delegation at this visit was to learn about the potential, investment strength of the province, thereby organizing investment promotion activities to introduce U.K enterprises and those of Manchester City to cooperate and invest in Thai Nguyen.

Mr. Pham Xuan Duong introduced to Mr. Peter and the Delegation basic features of the potential, strength and advantages in the province’s economic development investment as well as the fields which the province are focusing on and prioritizing the investment attraction. He also informed the Delegation of the current attraction of foreign direct investment in Thai Nguyen during the last time, in which he emphasized the fields and sectors currently cared about the investment like: Mining, metallurgy, electronics, hand tool, garment and other supporting industries.

Mr. Peter Thompson also expressed his expectation to receive Thai Nguyen province’s leaders to attend the Investment promotion conference held in Manchester City in the next mid-April. This is an investment cooperation program agreed and held by Manchester City leaders and Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

At the end of the working session, leaders of both sides signed the Memorandum of Understanding on investment promotion program and content as well as economic cooperation for the coming time.
