Thai Nguyen’s strive for ranking PCI scores in the list of top 15

This target was set by Thai Nguyen Province for 2012 and following years, stated in the Conference “Increase in Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI)” which was held by the Provincial People’s Committee in combination with Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), FNF (Federal Republic of Germany) in Thai Nguyen on the 8th of May.

For the purpose of making key solutions to improve PCI scores, contributing to the enhancement of investment environment with a view to achieving the socio-economic target of the province, as presided over by Mr. Duong Ngoc Long, the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee and Mr. Pham Gia Tuc, Vice Chairman of Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives of FNF, VCCI specialists, leaders of the Provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, departments, sectors and 9 districts, towns, Business association, and enterprises in the province have made discussion and analyzed Thai Nguyen’s PCI results in 2011; evaluated business environment based on data surveyed by VCCI; shared experiences on business environment improvement of nationwide localities; found out about the roles of local marketing applied in the socio-economic development of the province….and reached an agreement on several tasks, solutions to raise PCI scores in coming years…

With the target of, for 2012 and following years, raising the score over 60 and the province’s PCI score to be ranked on the list of top 15 centrally governed cities and provinces nationwide, right from early April, 2012, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People’s Committee have delivered many written documents for implementing action program, assigned tasks and established the Provincial Steering Committee, PCI team. They carried out to review the steering work strictly, manage the support, assistance provided to enterprises in solving problems, difficulties; lay down practical and effective tasks and solutions so as to focus on management, direction in near future.  

 



After listening to opinions, proposals made by VCCI specialists and representatives, Mr. Nhu Van Tam, Commissioner of Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of PCI Steering Committee has developed some tasks and key solutions to improve business environment, raise the province’s PCI score, in which solutions to enhance awareness, responsibility, dynamics and leading of all-level leadership, officers and staff; well carry out the work of administrative procedure checking and mechanism of “one door”, “inter-level one door” in all areas; widely apply the quality management system that complies with ISO requirements to administrative agencies from the provincial level to smaller levels. Also, Vice Chairman assigned concrete tasks to departments, sectors, People’s Committees of districts, cities, towns, and Business associations on the area of the province.

Stating the conclusion of the Conference, Mr. Duong Ngoc Long appreciated the report on PCI score in 2011, made by VCCI in combination with organizations, and expressed his gratitude to VCCI specialists, Ph.D Hans – Georg Jonek, Chief of FNF Representatives (Federal Republic of Germany) and delegates for their contribution of opinions to the analysis, assessment and proposal, helping Thai Nguyen raise PCI scores. Besides, the Chairman made his suggestion that VCCI and FNF should promote, in the next time, their combination and assist Thai Nguyen to well improve business environment, attract investment, which contributes to speeding up the socio-economic development of the province.
