Signature of a cooperation agreement for sustainable economic development

In the morning of May 16th, at the Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Duong Ngoc Long, Deputy Province Committee Secretary, Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee and leaders of departments worked with the delegation of leaders of Linkoping city - Sweden led by Mr. Paul Linvanll, Executive Chairman of city. Attending the working session were leaders of the Provincial People’s Council, leaders of Thai Nguyen People’s Committee, Yen Binh Investment and Development JSC.

At the meeting, delegates exchanged, learned about cooperation ability in the fields of health, education - training, energy, water supply and drainage and waste disposal, sustainable urban development, etc.

Talk with representatives from Linkoping city, Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee emphasized that: Having the potentiality of rich natural resources, being in the central position of the northern mountainous provinces of Viet Nam and being the 3rd largest center training's  in the country in recent years, Thai Nguyen has developed numerous partnerships with the provinces and cities in the world, contributed to improve the international position of Viet Nam in general and Thai Nguyen province in particular. Currently, there are six cooperation agreements signed between Thai Nguyen and foreign localities such as Zweibrucken city (Federal Republic of Germany), Allier (France), Salo (Finland), etc.; other cooperation agreements are preparing to be signed between Thai Nguyen and four provinces of 4 countries: Japan China, Indonesia and Czartan. Up to this time, there have been 54 non-governmental organization (NGO) and 23 FDI enterprises investing in Thai Nguyen.

With the potentiality, strengths and similar elements of Thai Nguyen  and Linkoping, cooperative target between two localities in the future is that the co-operation in matters related to sustainable development in general and  environment in particular; transfer of knowledge and environmental technology; attraction to industrial zones to change towards sustainable development, etc. To achieve the above objective, Mr. Duong Ngoc Long and Mr. Paul Lindvall signed a memorandum of cooperation (photo). At the same time, Thai Nguyen will prepare a number of specific projects to promote cooperation and appoint the provincial delegation to visit and work in Linkoping city in June 2012 as the invitation of Mr. Paul Lindvall.

In the past, the delegation of Linkoping city also visited and worked with the Management Board of Nui Coc lake tourism area; visited the Da Mai garbage area, Tan Cuong commune, Thai Nguyen city; worked with Thai Nguyen University and visited ATK Dinh Hoa historical place, the Museum of the Cultures of Viet Nam's Ethnic Groups.
