In the framework of official visit to Vietnam of President Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev, in the evening of October 31st 2011, in Hanoi, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) has cooperated with Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce to organize the enterprise forum of both countries and present Vietnam – Kazakhstan Business Council.

40 top enterprises from Kazakhstan participated in the forum. Vice President Vu Van Ninh and Mr. Asset Issekeshev, Vice President and Kazakhstan Minister of Industry attended. From Thai Nguyen province, comrade Pham Xuan Duong, member of the Central Committee of Vietnam Communist Party, Provincial party committee secretary participated in it.

The forum presents many opportunities for both countries’ enterprises to exchange information, to learn about the commercial corporative chances, and to invest, especially in the potential fields needing corporation. In the framework of forum, the delegates graced with their attendance of the signing and corporative agreement:  corporative agreement between Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce; establishment and introduction to the Vietnam – Kazakhstan Business Council, Mr. Dinh Huy Chien, chairman of management Board of Chien Cong Industry and Minerals Joint Stock Company (under Chien Cong Industry and Transportation Cooperatives) as Chairman of the Council.  In addition, some companies and groups of two countries sign for cooperation in fields of gas oil and agricultural and aquatic products.

At present, cooperation concerning economy, trade and investment between Vietnam and Kazakhstan remains weak, not corresponding with the potential and desire of both sides (trade exchange in 2010 achieved USD 44 million only, the first eight months of 2011 is over USD 26 million). Kazakhstan currently has no investment project in Vietnam. Kazakhstan is also a country abundant in natural resources, developing in terms of mining, metallurgical industries, etc. At the meanwhile, Thai Nguyen is the cradle of steel production and metallurgical industry in our country. Therefore, in case of cooperation with foreign partners, it shall significantly help to enhance quality and trademark of our products. As we know, from 2009, Chien Cong Industry and Transportation Cooperatives have sought information, surveyed and during the next time, it shall build Manganese works in Kazakhstan. This can be considered as the first step so that enterprises in Thai Nguyen province can step by step have cooperation in terms of production and trade (especially in terms of industry) with Kazakhstan enterprises, helping to speed up good relationships between two countries…
