Bustling with "Beauty" of Vietnamese Tea

Since the early morning of Nov, 9th, the museum of ethnic culture of Viet Nam was bustling with laughters of the crowd from many tea rural areas to gather. Everyone was excited and confident when bringing beautiful tea to Thai Nguyen to attend the competition.

Mr. Dang Viet Thuan, member of provincial Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, Head of Tea Festival Organizing Committee warmly commended and congratulated the teams to attend the contest. In the bright sunlight, each car was beautifully decorated, besides were 4 girls in ao dai, traditional costumes, raising pink ribbon to respect the natural beauty of tea. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Nga, Chairman of the provincial Farmers' Association, Head of Organizing Committee said: the contest had 16 participating teams, including 9 teams representing districts, towns and cities of the province. Especially in this contest, there were also the participation of Phu Luong ornament plant clubs, Quyet Thang tea village (Tuc Tranh, Phu Luong), University of Agriculture and Forestry (University of Thai Nguyen) and 4 provinces of Yen Bai, Ha Giang, Tuyen Quang, Phu Tho.

Joining the contest, the team passed two contents: Marching and the introducing the local tea; testing knowledge about tea production and processing. In general, teams gave correct answers. Nearby, we found a tea with white mold body like mountain rock. Then it is the tea tree of Hoang Van Kien, from Ha Giang, where the Gam River irrigates old tea fields. Kien Anh said: Through radio, newspaper I know that Thai Nguyen is the place to hold Festival of International Tea, tea beauty contest, so I asked Ha Giang Farmers' Association and Farmer’s Association of Thai Nguyen province to participate as individuals. I asked about the value of the tea, Kien told: exactly 100 million VND, but I donate it to the Farmers' Association of Thai Nguyen to plant it in the ancient tea garden in tea culture space area of Tan Cuong. For tea trees of Yen Bai team, it also overcame a hard journey of more than 200 kilometers away to attend the competition. Ms. Dang Bich Nguyet, members of Yen Bai Provincial Farmers' Association said: At the height of nearly 1,400 meters above sea level, Yen Bai has Shan Tuyet tea Suoi Giang which is famous nationwide for quality. The 100 -year-old tea we brought to the contest with a wish to introduce to visitors, people about my hometown, the Shan Tuyet tea is always close to people's lives.

Attending the contest, Tuyen Quang and Phu Tho provinces are full of joy to meet and exchange and contributes a tea of the capital of Tuyen Quang, a tea tea of mother land of Hung King to the ancient tea yards in the  Capital of Thai Nguyen. Beside an ancient tea tree, Pham Ngoc Dien, from Cam Son commune (Phu Luong) said: I see the contest is rich in contents, diverse in plant shapes. But for me, all trees are well worth winning. And two foreigners, Mrs. Lihbeth L. Coronado (Philippines) and Ms. Chantal Thompson (Canada) are volunteer teachers of foreign languages at the University of Thai Nguyen, they commented: the contest is interesting, impressive, with many people wearing strange clothes. About tea, we do not understand how its roots are too old, but on the top, it is full of buds. I just want to tell you that Thai Nguyen tea in Vietnam is delicious. Beautiful. I think so. Because 16 tea plants of 16 units and individuals attending the contest are spiritual products, the "prestige" of each tea region. By the experience of the members of the examiner board, and based on the criteria of beautiful tea, organizers have chosen, awarded Gold prize for tea of Dai Tu district; awarded the silver prize for the tea plants of Yen Bai, Phu Tho, Tuyen Quang, University of Agriculture and Forestry, and Thai Nguyen City. Immediately after the contest, the Provincial Farmers' Association in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism held a ceremony to hand over tea and plant beautiful tea trees in the provinces, regions and villages participating in the ancient tea garden in Tea Culture Space of Tan Cuong.
