Viet Bac High School celebrates 50th birthday

On November 4th 2007, a ceremony was held to celebrate the 50th anniversaries of the Viet Bac High School (1957-2007).

Attending the ceremony were Ms. Trieu Thi Nai, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly''s Ethnic Minorities Council, Mr. Dam Thanh Nghi, Deputy Chairman of Thai Nguyen Provincial People''s Committee and many provincial leaders from the northern mountainous areas of Viet Nam as well as many teachers and students of the school over the past 50 years.


Over the past 50 years, the Viet Bac High School has trained nearly 12,000 students who are from 32 ethnic minority groups living in the northern mountainous areas of Viet Nam, in which, after graduation, there are 7,500 ones offered positions in universities, 278 ones pursuing higher education abroad and the rest all received vocational education.

To improve the qualities of studying and teaching, 100% teachers of the school have been encouraged to raise initiatives on such issues to apply for the school'' situation, resulting in hundreds of ministry-level, interschool-level and school-level practical and feasible projects. The school''s infrastructure has been also developed, meeting the needs of the school in the new circumstances.

On the occasion, the school was granted the certificate of merit for its great achievements on training ethnic minority students by the Prime Minister.
