In 2008, 550 hectare in Phu Luong district will be afforested under the government''s Program 661, in which there are 150 hectare of protective forest and 400 hectare of economic forest.
The project will be implemented in ten communes of Phu Luong district. They are: Yen Ninh, Yen Do, Yen Lac, Phu Do, Tuc Tranh, Dong Dat, On Luong, Phu Ly, Hop Thanh and Phan Me.
At present, after inspection, the project management of Phu Luong district has inspected and assigned tasks for localities. The three target communes are Yen Lac (responsible for 110 hectare), Yen Ninh (100 hectare) and On Luong (90 hectare). To timely implement the project at the beginning of the year 2008, the local arboreta have initiated to prepare necessary nursery stocks.
